ACT D4000
Emergency Lighting Battery Tester
Battery Types: D-Cell Nicad and SLA
Voltage Range: 2.4 – 12VDC
Ah Capacity: Above 4Ah
Although the test schedules are not onerous, the need to inspect standalone emergency lighting luminaire for lamp starting, operation and battery duration can be very labour intensive and therefore expensive. The D4000 saves time by quickly identifying defective batteries and simulating a battery duration load test in minutes. It is designed to test a wide range of rechargeable battery types, voltages and capacities fitted to standalone emergency lighting systems. By rapidly discharging 1Ah (Ampere-hour) from the battery whilst continuously monitoring the voltage, it will identify a defective battery within 1 minute and complete a 1 hour duration test in only 7 minutes. By tesing twice, a full 3 hour duration test can be simulated in just 15 minutes, leaving 30% operating capacity in the battery, enabling all luminiaires to be thoroughly tested during one service visit..
Designed for load testing 'D Cell' nickel-cadmium, lead-acid, lithium-ion and nickel metal hydride recharegable batteries with voltages between 2.4V and 12V and with capacities above 4Ah in order to meet the lighting duration requirements of BS 5266-1. The D4000 is ideal tester for load testing batteries used in standalone emergency lighting luminaires, security and fire alarm panels, battery powered tools, bicycles and toys etc.
How it works
Once connected to the battery terminals, the D4000 automatically detects the battery voltage then selects the correct resistance load to discharge 1Ah from the battery rapidly and safely.
During the test, if the battery voltage drops below a critical monitored level, a red ‘fail’ LED will latch on. Provided the battery voltage remains healthy, a green ‘pass’ LED will show at the end of the test. A yellow LED flashes continuously throughout the test period. The fan-cooled D4000 can be used repeatedly to load test new and used rechargeable batteries with capacities above 4Ah.
